Born in Egypt, Sameh studied German literature at Cairo’s university, his native city. He worked as assistant director for many commercials and films, before he settled in Europe. In 2016, he gets a master’s degree at the Paris IFTS (International film and television school).
He’s first short, Fifteen, was nominated at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2017 and received many rewards all over the world. He directed his first advertising campaign in 2019. His last short film, I am afraid to forget your face, is nominated at Cannes 2020 and is the first Egyptian film from the last 50 years to compete for the short film Palme d’or. At this moment, Sameh work on his first film.
