Synopsis

Najib, Manu and Jörg have been living in Berlin for many years and are still struggling with the nature of the city. While wandering around Kreuzberg at dawn, a curious person follows the characters in their (un)likely encounters. A chaotic bubble of different perspectives, destinies, languages and cultures floats into the everyday life of Berlin at the edge of night and day.

Direction
  • Otto Lazic-Reuschel

Otto Lazic-Reuschel was born in Trieste, where he grew up. After spending a year in Chiapas, Mexico, where he shot his first documentary in 2011, he moved to Berlin where he has been living for eight years. He collaborated with RomaTrial in the framework of the project Balkan Onions. On this occasion, he collectively directed the documentary film In Between (2015), which reports on the situation of Albanians, Roma and Serbs after the Kosovo war. His most recent work, Riski (2017), tells the story of a group of young people in Melilla, a Spanish enclave on the North African Mediterranean coast with a land border to Morocco.
At present, he is working on his new creative documentary, Drajcici. A Village at the Edge of Europe. The documentary is still in development but already got selected at four international development workshops—Balkan Documentary Center, IDFAcademy, Docs Barcelona and Balkan Film Market—Pitch Balkan. Together with his documentary projects, he directed his first short feature film, a one-take story set in Berlin, produced by Zero Stress Production in collaboration with Movik Film Production. Since November 2019 he’s attending ZELIG—School for Documentary, Television and New Media in Bolzano, Italy.
