Synopsis

Aniksha is a young woman from the Indo-Mauritian diaspora. After her arranged marriage, she finds a job at a call centre, a blooming industry in Mauritius. There, she encounters her enigmatic supervisor and discovers a world of possibilities. This new world view places Aniksha between the choice of a traditional or a modern lifestyle.

    Vincent Toi is a Canadian filmmaker who comes from Mauritius. His films address the complexity of human relations on postcolonial islands. The worldwide premiere of his previous short film, The Crying Conch (2017), was in the Berlinale Shorts competition, and was after screened in more than thirty festivals. Vincent won the Most Promising Director of a Canadian Short Film award at the 2017 Vancouver International Film Festival.
