Synopsis

Mr. Ham decides to have his heart removed in order to be relieved of his complicated feelings. The doctor assures him that this is no longer a problem at all in this day and age. However, Ham keeps his heart for a while after the removal in order to perhaps understand it better after all. Tako Tsubo* is an animated, surrealistic reflection on dealing with feelings in a meritocracy.

  • Eva Pedroza

    Eva Pedroza (*1982 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin. She studied at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes in Buenos Aires and at Berlin University of the Arts.

    Her works consists of drawings, ceramics, paintings and animations. They deal with the paradoxes of subject and object, the contradictory and symbiotic relationships between humans and non-human beings, culture and nature. Based on story telling, her works are often influenced by spontaneous processes and effects of various media she chooses, such as paper, watercolor, ceramic and firing process to fold the unexpected in a poetic and dramatic way.

    Her work has recently been shown at ZF Projektraum, Berlin (solo 2022), Institut für Alles Mögliche, Berlin (duo, 2022), Hilbertraum, Berlin (solo, 2021), Feldfünf, Berlin (solo, 2021), with Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Berlin (2020), at Literaturhaus Berlin (2018) and at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin (2016). From 2013-2017, she was awarded the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung study scholarship and in 2022, the Kleine Filmförderung vom Land Niederösterreich, along with author Fanny Sorgo.

  • Fanny Sorgo

    Fanny Sorgo, born in 1993 in Austria, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna and Berlin. She studied Scenic Writing and Narrative Film at the University of Arts Berlin and successfully completed both courses in 2018. As a playwright and performer she has been invited to numerous theater festivals throughout Europe in recent years and wrote, among others, for the German Opera Berlin. Since 2014, Fanny Sorgo has been represented by the Berlin publishing house Felix Bloch Erben.
    In 2020 she discovered her interest in music and began to write and compose songs self-taught. In 2023 she released her first singles.
    The animated film Tako Tsubo (2024) is her directorial film debut in collaboration with the argentine artist Eva Pedroza.
    Fanny Sorgo regularly presents her work in performative readings and concerts.
