Synopsis

A city, in summer. The morning coolness in the river does not last long, the heat covers the city like a magnifying glass under which supposedly trivial everyday nuisances suddenly take on weight. Eli tries to escape the narrowness and agitation of the city – yet keeps being confronted with aggression. And her rage starts to build up.

    Jela studied photography in Zurich and Istanbul, and cinema in Lucerne.
    Her diploma film Kein Porno (No porn), originated from a disaster, first brought her into the festival circuit, and even earned her an invitation to give a talk on «Filmmakers Fuck Ups» at Go Short Festival Nijmegen (Netherlands). Her short films have been shown at festivals worldwide like Locarno Festival, IDFA, Hot Docs etc, more recently even to Cannes Critic’s Week, and won several awards. Jela is an alumna of the ZFF Masterclass, the GIFF New Talent Screen as well as the FEST Training Ground. She’s been awarded an artist residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, and was granted the Carte Blanche for the trailer of the International Short Film Festival Winterthur. She's been part of the directors collective of the documentary «Les Nouvelles Èves», which was released in Swiss cinemas in autumn 2021.
