Official Competition

We’re more than excited to present our ten excellent programs of the Official Competition. Of the 66 films selected this year, 30 come from Canada, with a whopping 26 of them coming from Quebec alone! There are 13 new films eligible for the Canadian Grand Prix and 13 international novelties competing for the Grand Prix. There are some 40 world, North American and Canadian premieres in addition to a few must-see films of the year such as Shark, Sideral, Pa Vend and The Girl with a Thermal Gun. Also in competition, we’re showing a program entirely dedicated to documentaries and another solely on animated films. How they’ll do it we don’t know but the jury will then have the near-impossible task of deciding who gets to win one of the five awards: Grand Prize, Canadian Grand Prize, Jury Prize, Best Documentary and Best Animation. In addition, there is an International Critics’ Prize awarded by the FIPRESCI jury, a National Critics’ Prize awarded by the AQCC jury, and an Audience Prize awarded to the film with the most votes in theatres and online. Good cinema, and good luck!
