Synopsis

Eleven-year-old Antonin drags his mother to the nursing home, determined to meet his grandfather for the first time. Unable to convince his grandpa’s estranged daughter to join him, Antonin goes alone. In a room festooned with nautical paraphernalia, he finds gruff and solitary Gilles, and they end up taking an unexpected journey.

    Philippe Besner grew up in Valleyfield, Quebec, before moving to Montreal to study comunications. At 21, he wrote, directed, and produced a self-financed web series that garnered over 230,000 views. Around the same time, he became the executive director of an NPO that facilitates the welcoming and integration of refugees in Montreal. Three years later, Philippe wrote, directed, and produced his first short film, Quand nous serons seules, before being accepted into L’Inis as a director in the Cinema program.
