Indigenous Perspectives

Don't forget to vote for your favorite short film at the end of each screening! Public Vote

New in the Focus Competition, this program is an invitation to sharing and discovery, providing Indigenous filmmakers additional space to tell their stories and forge bonds. These are stories of trauma, of course, but also of inspiring initiatives, transmission and reappropriation – the films of this program celebrate the incomparable richness of Indigenous cultures. In a “retro-prospective” spirit, the films look at the past, present and future.

Curated by programmers Jess Murwin and Vincent Careau, this inaugural selection is the product of a long process, and it is also the starting point for an evolving path. We want to thank Jess for their participation; La Boîte Rouge VIF and the Montreal First People’s Festival for their invaluable input; and Caroline Monnet, Mélanie Brière, Alexandre Bacon and André Dudemaine for their wise counsel.
