Synopsis

The film follows Michel, a Montrealer and chef at the Belle Tonki restaurant, as he recounts his experiences of his neighbourhood, Saint-Michel. He paints an Intimate portrait of the cultural clash brought about by the successive waves of immigration that have shaped his culinary approach and his sense of belonging.

    Carlos Soriano is a director and multidisciplinary artist born in the Dominican Republic who took refuge in Canada in 2013. He studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV in Cuba and at INIS in Montreal. His artistic process is closely intertwined with his queer identity, the socio-cultural context of the Caribbean and its decolonization, and his experience as a migrant.
