Do you ever get nostalgic for the heyday of MusiquePlus? We sure do, and we’re going to take a deep dive into the world of ultra-cool VJs, camera operators who loved to experiment, live interviews and, above all, the discovery and rediscovery of a plethora of excellent musicians from right here in Quebec. The musical films Pastorale and C’qui faut pas entendre will set the tone for the evening.
A true cinematic oddity, Pastorale by Antoine Corriveau and Francis Leclerc is an uncompromising film, just like the eponymous song by Antoine, which refuses to obey the rules of pop music. Meanwhile, C’qui faut pas entendre is a docu-show that invites us into the world of Alex Burger. From stage to road to neighbourhood bar, we enjoy hearing his music and his thoughts about the touring life. “Rock is about not giving a shit, then you’ve gotta roll – and that’s the hard part.”
In an electric setting bearing an uncanny resemblance to the studios of the late, lamented music channel, the two films will be accompanied by a selection of the best music videos of the past year. It’s a perfect combo, where each piece is a unique creative explosion, reminding us that art is always enriched when multiple disciplines come together.
Tickets may be available at the box office for this screening, depending on availability. Arrive early to secure your seat.
