LUX is an installation that consists of a 35 mm projector through which film is struck by a beam of light, revealing old retouched copies of the Citizen Kane movie. The artist, however, redirects and adds complexity to the path of the film and of light which in themselves become sculptural forms John Blouin thus presents the process behind the projection, a space usually sheltered from most people’s glance. Together the projector and its tools become stage and show, thus raising our awareness of all the poetry behind this mechanical process In the silence of the projection booth, the artist reminds us of the dismantling of a pivotal era in the history of cinema, without nostalgia.
