Nine thematic programs scattered throughout the programming of this 27th edition. There is a focus on the new voices of Kosovar cinema, presented by the DokuFest Festival, the most important film festival in Kosovo. We also have the pleasure of welcoming the Carte Blanche program from Présence autochtone Festival, the largest Indigenous short film broadcaster in Québec with a selection of the best Indigenous shorts of recent years. And then there is comedian Steve Laplante who will be joining us. To mark his 20-year career, we’ll be showing a retrospective of five short films in which he has starred over the past 20 years.

Genre film fanatics and Experimental aficionados are back for their annual get-together! In addition to these five programs, four specific-themed programs will be added with subjects that have proven to be highly successful over repeated viewings: the Commited Shorts program offers militant, disconcerting, stimulating films imbued with humanity; Narcotics explores different facets of illicit drug consumption; Territories is filled with visual richness, but also incongruities; and Transmissions addresses, in hues of shadow and light, the theme of intergenerational transmission.
