Saguenay international
short film festival

Caravane Films Productions, the organization behind REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival, is proud to announce the arrival of Justine Valtier within its team, where she will act as executive and artistic director.

Cultural worker, passionate artist and consultant in management, Justine Valtier moved to Saguenay in 2016. Originally from France and holding a Masters in Art from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi as well as a Diplôme National Supérieur in Plastic Expression from ésam Caen/Cherbourg (FR), she is constantly involved and active in the local cultural and artistic milieu. In 2018, she became the executive director of the artist center Le Lobe and was at the helm for three years. In parallel, she was also working as a lecturer in the Arts Module at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi for four years. Having worked as a managing consultant for organizations and video production companies, Justine is also involved with the Regroupement des Centres d’Artistes Autogérés du Québec (RCAAQ), where she acts as co-president of the board of directors.

“The board of directors is very happy about this new addition to the team. Justine’s refined knowledge of the artistic milieu and her experience in managing cultural organizations will be incredible assets for this new mandate. Moving forward, Justine will bring her own touch to this organization and her momentum already inspires those who collaborate with her.”

- Sophie Beauparlant, president of the board of directors

Having already been in the office for a few days, Justine is beyond motivated by the new challenges that await her.

"It is a great honor and a source of pride for me to be entrusted with the role of executive and artistic director of REGARD. I was always interested in auteur cinéma and discovering new talents, so I am impatient to dive into this new adventure and to pursue this mandate with passion and curiosity.”

- Justine Valtier

A transition is currently taking place between Justine Valtier and Marie-Elaine Riou, who held the position brilliantly for seven years and who will officially leave the organization in the coming days following the organization's annual general meeting.

Of course, the entire Festival team would like to thank Marie-Elaine once again for everything she has brought to the organization since her arrival.

The coming months will therefore be full of new adventures for REGARD, which will celebrate its 27th edition from March 22nd to 26th 2023.
