About the Festival

Recognized as one of the most important short film festivals in North America, REGARD presents nearly 200 films across four main program sections: Official Competition, Focus Competition, Youth Competition, and Thematic Programs. With 15 awards totaling nearly $120,000 in cash and services, the Festival is also recognized by both the Oscars and FIPRESCI.

Structured around five strands, the Focus Competition is a platform dedicated to emerging talents, diversity, and marginalized voices. Shoot No Matter What supports Quebec emerging filmmakers and self-produced works; 100% Régions highlights Quebec filmmakers based outside major urban centres; Short & Queer celebrates LGBTQ+2AI communities; Americana showcases the vitality of Latin American productions; and Indigenous Perspectives presents powerful and essential perspectives on the world.

The Youth Competition offers a variety of programs for audiences aged 3 to 17. Films in French and in other languages are welcome.
