Boys

If in past years we had a thing for films relating to issues to do with women and the LGBTQ+ communities, this year it is the stories carried by male directors or characters that have won our hearts. Friendship, love, identity and fraternity rub shoulders in a program that plays with and confounds stereotypes to celebrate what it means to be male in this day and age. From the teenager who wants to join a gang, to three friends partying in an apartment; from the scathing look at the pride of colonial conquerors, to the brotherhood of a group of men undergoing therapy; from the mother who becomes a father, to the incredible odyssey of a human in search of sexual liberation on an alien planet, these stories are classic and playful.
