In the world of Samer Najari and Dominique Chila

He’s originally from Syria, she’s from Quebec. This filmmaker couple has been working together for nearly 20 years, capturing the world through deeply meaningful films with a poetic heart. Here we will revisit their first two shorts and get an exclusive look at a new documentary that takes us to Jordan, a transit country for Samer when he left Syria 25 years ago. The mini-retrospective will be capped by a reading of the excellent script for their latest short, Rituels sous un ciel écarlate, now in postproduction. The story of everyday life going on despite tragedy, in the film they recreate the streets of Damascus using a unique artistic and poetic process that will result in a film we know will be incredible.

The script reading is directed by artist Bruno Paradis. Comedians: Monique Gauvin, Caroline Tremblay, Jonathan Boies and Bruno Paradis.
There will be a question and answer session at the end of this program
