Shooters! Our new HQ is full of colour and infused with the infectious Kinomada vibe – we’re ready to celebrate this phenomenal project’s first 15 years! An incubator and refresher for hundreds of filmmakers around the world, the organization has now made 700 films in a dozen countries. From Peru to Mexico, Chile to Panama, Cuba to Salvador, not to mention Haiti, Martinique and Louisiana, Kinomada has extended its reach 29 times, always with the same goal: to conceive, produce and make films in a short time, taking inspiration from the people and places encountered on each stop.
Within the wider Kino movement, it’s a catalyst for ideas driven by the energy of a creative collective, and also a galvanizing human experience based on meeting others, mutual aid and family spirit. Because with shared meals, sleeping bags laid out wherever they’ll fit and a notable lack of sleep – bonding is inevitable!
We hosted the group’s 17th stop, in Chicoutimi in 2016, so we hope plenty of you will come out to join the Kinomada extended family for this celebration. It’s a perfect opportunity to see old friends, have a drink and remember great moments with the gang. It’s also a chance to rewatch some key films carefully selected by our friend Yannick Nolin, the organization’s founder, and to acknowledge his immense contributions to the filmmaking community. No spoilers, but we promise you’ll be treated to some fantastic surprises all evening!
