The Actor-director

The Swiss Army knife of actors able to demonstrate so much talent in front of the camera as well as behind it is nothing new. Film history proves it and people like Welles, Chaplin, Brando, Seymour, Hoffman, Picard and Lepage remind us of it. However, a noticeable surge in actors turning to directing is happening in Quebec.

Fanny Malette, Guillaume Cyr, Alexa-Jeanne Dubé, Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Mara Joly and Pierre Niney (France) are six artists that are mostly known for their acting talent, while engaging in screenwriting and pursuing the director’s chair while the seventh art works its magic.

Their films all share a very grounded and humble vision of life: family, love, humour, friends, everyday life and death. Behind the assurance and poise of these actors, you will find artists that are sensitive, funny, captivating and endearing. They’re impossible to dislike!

*The screening will be followed by a discussion with the actors/directors.
