This program illustrates the richness and

vitality of German film today. These films

take us on an entertaining, explosive and

engaging journey, entangled with humor, at

times dramatic and introspective.

The selected shorts reveal a generation

of screenwriters that are still going strong

and supported by the community. With

an annual production of about 800 short

films and more than 70 German festivals

to welcome, replete an industry that, for

the sake of balance between production,

distribution and dissemination, remains

attentive to the needs of the filmmakers

and artisans of the domain. The fresh

smell of freedom that emerges from

German shorts, in their themes, shapes

and interpretations, gives the refreshing

impression that all complexes have been

shed to make room for creativity.
